Live Confession of Iohanna Nicenboim

18 07 2012

Thursday, July 19th – starts at 7:30 p.m.

We are all bored of asking ‘Why did you move to Berlin?’ or ‘How long have you lived here?’ or ‘What did you study?’.

Now is our chance to let the flow of conversation unravel the foundations of why’s, what’s and how’s through the conversational antics of Live Confession. Come and discover the lady behind 100 different loaves of bread.

Iohanna is currently participating in the curatorial residency at Node Center for Curatorial Studies.

Heroes is a labor of love more than a mere business. For this reason, its owners sometimes need a little time off to do something else and rekindle the romance.

But don’t worry, we’ll be popping in every now and again over the summer with special events, and of course, we’ll be back in September, refreshed and ready for love.

So stay tuned!

CINECLUB #19 – The Kingdom by Lars von Trier, Season 2, Ep. 1 & 2

17 06 2012

Tuesday, June 19th – film starts at 9:30 p.m.

For our last Cineclub series before our summer break, we’ve decided to show Lars von Trier’s comically disturbing and weirdly funny TV series masterpiece:

The Kingdom (Riget) Seasons I & II
Lars von Trier
1994 & 1997 (In Danish with English subtitles)

The notorious Lars von Trier’s complete supernatural TV mini-series The Kingdom (‘Riget’ in Danish) I & II, set in the real-life Copenhagen Riget Hospital. Surreal, spooky, wryly humorous, eerie, and just a little bit silly. Expect suspense, frights, laughs, and – especially towards the end of the second series – a frequent ‘huh?’ as the show unravels and devolves towards its unfathomable conclusion…

Both seasons consist of 4 episodes each, all about an hour long. We will screen 2 every Tuesday night in June so that we can watch the whole of seasons I & II.

Season II: June 19th and June 26th

48 STUNDEN NEUKÖLLN – S.A.V.E. / Census by A. Pittoni & P.F. Enriquez-Sarano // Ze Coeupel

14 06 2012

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, June 15 to 17

Call for Berlin’s artists! We will make a census of the Berliner artists, their needs and their expectations.

S.A.V.E. is a multiform investigation agency founded in Berlin in November 2009. We created S.A.V.E. in reaction to the drastic changes that the city of Berlin has been through for the past few years. As artists, we felt more and more part of the city and concerned for its future. Therefore, we want to make an all-comprehensive census of the Berliner artists, their needs and their expectations. We would like to ask our contemporaries to express their needs as artists in order to make this vast and diluted community more visible and concrete. Is Berlin still THE artists’ paradise?

Fri. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. – PERFORMANCE
Sat. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. – PERFORMANCE
Sun. 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – EXHIBITION

Aufruf an alle Berliner Künstler!
